Future Explorers (Ages 5-10) | Our Amazing Planet

Hello Future Explorer! In 2050, when you’re 35, what will the air be like?

AIR IS INVISIBLE BUT SUPER IMPORTANT!

You breathe 20,000 times per day! You can live:

  • 3 weeks without food
  • 3 days without water
  • 3 MINUTES without air!

Air is made of:

  • 78% Nitrogen (doesn’t do much)
  • 21% Oxygen (YOU NEED THIS!)
  • 1% Other stuff (CO₂, water vapor, etc.)

Trees and plants MAKE oxygen for us! We breathe it, they make it!

CLEAN AIR VS DIRTY AIR

Clean air: You can breathe easy, see far, stay healthy Dirty air: Hard to breathe, makes you sick, can’t see through smog

In YOUR 2050: Will the air be clean? YOU decide by helping NOW!

ACTIVITY 1: CATCH AIR POLLUTION

Smear petroleum jelly on white paper. Put outside for 3 days. Look what stuck to it – that’s what goes in your lungs!

ACTIVITY 2: THE BREATHING CHALLENGE

Hold breath for 30 seconds. Hard, right? Imagine if air was always dirty and hard to breathe. That’s why clean air matters!

ACTIVITY 3: PLANT AN OXYGEN MAKER

Plant a seed or small plant. It will make oxygen for you! One tree makes oxygen for 2 people!
